Hi, my name's Ian and I'm the architect for this renovation.
This website is to explain in more detail everything involved in working on a project like this in a heritage area.
The website expands on what is on the site hoarding for your reference. Designing renovations in inner city heritage areas is a specialist field and it is what I do. Every local council has different goals but, in my experience, we have been able to realise our clients needs and wants so that they are not thwarted – so you don’t give up hope.
Regardless of your experiences, there are ways and means of doing things that previously have not seemed possible.
Together we may be able to do an awful lot more than you imagine.
Council happy. You're happy.
Win win.
Feel free to contact me.
(Hope to hear from you)

IF IT WAS EASY ANYONE
COULD DO IT
In designing any building there is a bigger picture than the just the nuts and bolts of what it is. Design begins with much wider considerations including the character of the place and the form of the landscape.
With an understanding of the context within which we are to work. With an understanding the history of the site and area. With understanding what has generated the look and feel of this place over time.
A HISTORY AND CONTEXT
Where you are standing is an historic place
There is a history here from which the new arises. We don’t live in a vacuum and historic places are important. Understanding where we have come from fixes us in time and our sense of where we have come from and who we are. Yarraville is one of the most historic places in Melbourne and this little precinct was at its heart from the beginning.
HOW DOES OUR PLANNING
SYSTEM WORK?
Before you can build you need a planning permit. Planning can be complex, and planning decisions can attract a lot of attention and controversy. Planning is a state government responsibility delegated to your Maribyrnong council to implement through their planning department. Planners are skilled professionals working in the interests of your community through managing change in a predictable and orderly way.
